An embodied return to
Ancient Yogic Wisdom
Yoga is a living, relational system. It is truly a process of remembrance; a return to your wholeness and the innate intelligence that lives within your body, breath, heart, consciousness and spirit. This living approach to the practices & teaching of Yoga invites a way of study that is relational, embodied, and alive. It is a deep exploration of Yoga as a living wisdom tradition, one that continues to unfold through sincerity, patience, curiosity, and reverence.
We offer in-depth study that honors the origins of Yoga while thoughtfully integrating pertinent modern approaches to meet the needs of these present times. Forever students of Yoga first, we walk in the footsteps of those who have come before us, guided by a time-tested path that supports authentic navigation of Yoga as an embodied practice.
At The Vital Oak, Yoga education unfolds within a compassionate, nervous-system-friendly container, one that honors the neurobiology of safety, presence, and each individual’s pace and experience. We believe wholeheartedly in inclusivity and accessibility.
Education at The Vital Oak becomes edification, a learning through consciousness and deep inner listening, cultivating the capacity to trust in one’s own inner teacher. Over time, the knowledge gathered transforms into lived experience, and inherent wisdom naturally arises from within.
Yoga education at The Vital Oak draws from several different frameworks to inform the learning.
These perspectives are interwoven to support both depth and accessibility, honoring lineage while meeting our modern day circumstances. The Vital Oak weaves together foundational study with experiential practice, including:
Samkhya philosophy
Patanjali Yoga Sutra
The Eight Limbs of Yoga
The 4 Paths (Raja, Jnana, Bhakti, Karma Yoga)
Foundational Ayurvedic principles & the 5 elements
Post-Traumatic Growth, Polyvagal Theory & Somatics
Earth-based teachings / Life’s Originating Principles
Teachings of the Elders
Lived experience and embodied inquiry
Thoughtful modern perspectives that support present-day integration
The journey towards Yoga, in this way, becomes an orientation of consciousness rather than a set of practices alone.
The Vital Oak is founded in the truth that we are not separate from the Earth, we ARE the Earth. By nurturing inner wellness through the Yogic teachings, we restore our connection and kinship with all living beings. Yoga as a practice of relationship, supports humans in becoming better relatives with all the beings that sustain us alive deepening our capacity to live in sacred reciprocity & complimentarity.
Education through The Vital Oak is for those called to study Yoga with sincerity, curiosity, and openness. It is designed for practitioners, teachers, and seekers who value depth, integrity, inner listening, self-inquiry, and embodied learning.
It is especially supportive for those drawn to transformative, conscious learning that honors nervous system health, relational learning, and empowerment. This path may not align with those looking for quick credentials or a purely physical, pose or fitness focused approach to Yoga.
Who is this for?
Yoga education at The Vital Oak is meant to awaken, empower, and restore trust in the wisdom that already lives within. It is an invitation to listen more deeply, to live with greater coherence, and to be guided by your inner teacher informed by both ancient and modern wisdom. You are welcome to explore this path at your own pace, in your own way, and in relationship with a tradition that continues to breathe through those who practice it.
We offer many services to support you where you are.
